"We will open our hearts to the cries of the poor using our energies, gifts and resources to address violence and discrimination especially for women and children, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, displaced persons..." (Chapter Statement)

In his message for this year's World Day of Migrants and Refugees, Pope Francis Pope Francis highlights the importance of recognising migrants as a living image of God’s people on their way to the eternal homeland. He calls for a renewed commitment to walking together with migrants, seeing in them the face of Christ, and offering support and compassion.

In announcing this year's theme (video below), Pope Francis reminds us that all of us, God’s people, are migrants on this earthon our way to the “true homeland”, the Kingdom of Heaven.
